How much does it cost to send a parcel from Nepal to Dubai?

Weight, contents, vendor and service speed set the price, same as any corridor. What’s different here is the volume: this is one of the busiest routes out of Kathmandu, which means more vendors competing and more variation between their quotes than you’d see on a thin route. The rates above are for the UAE as a whole. Dubai is where most Nepal-origin parcels land, but Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Al Ain are all regular destinations and some vendors route to them separately, so the delivery estimate can differ once the parcel is inside the country even when the headline rate doesn’t.

Documents are priced separately and are the cheaper column for a reason — a sealed envelope of paper has almost nothing for customs to assess. That matters more on this corridor than people expect, because employment contracts, attested certificates and medical test results tied to the labour-migration process are a steady share of what moves.

What you cannot send to the UAE

Beyond meat, the categories to avoid are media and printed material that conflicts with local law and cultural norms, anything narcotic, weapons, and counterfeit goods. Nepal’s own export restrictions on currency, wildlife products and the rest apply before the parcel leaves.

Everything else in a typical Gulf-bound family parcel is generally fine: clothes, packaged snacks, dried fruit, biscuits, commercially sealed achar, spices in their original labelling, handicrafts, small household goods. The recurring problem isn’t the item, it’s the packaging. An unlabelled container of something homemade gives customs nothing to identify it by, and that’s what gets it set aside.

Customs duty and the personal allowance

Personal-use items and genuine gifts under a set value are generally exempt from customs duty in the UAE, without needing a formal declaration below that threshold. Above it, your recipient is typically liable for a small import duty plus VAT on delivery. Confirm the current threshold and rates with UAE customs before sending anything of real value, since the figures are set there and do change.

Why parcels to Dubai run late

Customs inspection, most of the time. Shipments into the UAE are routinely X-rayed and a proportion get opened for a physical check, and no courier’s transit estimate can fully price that in. An itemised, accurate declaration is the most useful thing you control — a parcel described as “gift items” invites a manual look; one that lists two kilos of packaged biscuits, a shawl and three jars of pickle generally doesn’t.

The other predictable cause is timing. Dashain and Tihar produce a genuine spike on this corridor in both directions, and a box booked a week before the festival is competing with everyone else’s. Book earlier than feels necessary in October.
